Understanding the Favorites Feature
The Favorites list is not a static group but a curated collection that syncs seamlessly with your iCloud account and across all Apple devices signed into the same Apple ID. Unlike your main contacts list, which can be extensive, Favorites is designed for intimacy and efficiency, holding only the individuals you designate as priority. This ensures that when you unlock your screen, the faces you see are the ones that matter most to your daily life.
Adding a Contact to Favorites from the Contacts App
The most direct method of adding someone is through the dedicated Contacts application, where you can manage the details of the person before making them a favorite. This approach is ideal when you are already browsing your address book or have recently imported a new contact and want to immediately elevate their status.
Launch the Contacts app on your home screen.
Locate and tap the contact you wish to add to your Favorites list.
Scroll to the bottom of the contact’s information page and tap the Add to Favorites button.
If the button is not visible, look for an edit icon (a small pencil) in the top right corner, tap it, and then drag the Favorite toggle to the on position.
Adding a Contact to Favorites from the Phone App
For real-time additions, the Phone app offers the most reactive method, allowing you to favorite a contact immediately after a call or during a search. This workflow is perfect for during or after a conversation when the interaction is still fresh in your mind.
Open the Phone app and navigate to the Recents tab.
Find the contact number or name you wish to favorite and tap the circular info icon (ⓘ) next to their details.
